sidechain inside effect rack row...

Post by wiselyChoosenUsernane » Wed Jun 03, 2020 9:02 pm

Hello all!

So if i have an effect rack with multiple rows, is it possible to have for exmpl. a gate effect at the end of the chain in row1 - with the gates sidechain input coming from row2 in the same rack?
In practical terms - id like to build a gated reverb fx rack which is build to be used in a 100% wet fashion...So in row1 i have a reverb fx followed by a gate, with the reverb 100% wet...But i'd like to use the *dry* pre-reverb signal as the gate sidechain input, since that works much better for how i use it...

This is easy to do when simply using a reverb followed by a gate in a send track - and setting the gate sidechain input to the same aux channel it sits on ...
But - would be nice to be able to build the same as an instantly reusable fx rack!

I hope i'm making sense, it is late..
Thank you!

You don't even need a 2nd chain ("row") in the Rack, as you can pick the same Chain (in the Gate's Sidechain) but "Pre-FX" (before all the audio effects).

If you have multiple Chains, I think you can pick any of them Pre-FX, as they are all the same audio, before the effects.

yes, all works when one selects the *current channel* where the fx rack sits on, then pre-fx...
But, there seems to be no way to have the actuao fx rack input available in the sidechain input selector,(in a gate inside that same rack) directly...
That way it could be dropped anywhere - like somwhere inside a drumrack, and instantly have ot configured that way...
