Alternative for mono sequencer

Looking for an alternative to mono sequencer. I’d like to have more flexibility to automate parameters like step length. Mono sequencer other than that is great because I can add notes on my keyboard live and the sequencer will play them.
I have The Alexkid sequencers but then are way too limited musically.

Automating step length would be tricky. How would you display it ? One automation slot for each step ? If not, what happens if your clip doesn't have the same length as the sequence ?
In terms of UI, this would be really complicated.

Sorry meant to say sequence length.... now I can only use midi cc to manipulate that

Weird. If you can midi map it then you should be able to automate it. I’ll have a look

I just checked. can't be done unfortunately. The sides of the sequence have midi cc's automatically assigned to them.... With IAC of course, yes. Just got rid of that in my workflow, but will have to start using it again I guess.

The device should be modifiable. Would you want to automate start and end points or stick to start at 1 and automate length ?

Both to be honest. I would like certain scenes to automate the start and end point of the sequence and I would like to manually modify them with a controller on others.
