broken + strange audio behavior with Loopback

Post by djyroc » Mon Aug 03, 2020 11:13 pm

anyone else use Loopback by Rogue Amoeba?
about it being broken:
as a simple test, i setup VLC to play an mp3, which Loopback captures.
If I go into bitwig, and set Loopback as the input, it plays the vlc mp3 into a track as expected.
if I go into ableton, and set loopback as the input, the track instantly goes into the red and clips out/stops playing sound.

strange part:
once i kill ableton after this, it lets the audio start playing to my headphones, even though loopback doesn't have a monitor set and audio/midi settings in mac doesn't have headphones set to play audio.

ah, buffer size mismatch, Loopback only goes up to 512 and ableton was higher

Hi, can you explain what you've done so far? Running into crackles and pops here using loopback in LIVE 10. All is set to 44100, all is set to 24 bit. As soon as I choose a loopback device as the input in live, it's pops, clicks and sometimes 3 seconds of heavy distortion. Sounds to me as a clock frequency thing, but all is set to the same value. Buffer size is 256 samples in Live. Ideas?

Note1 ; I've also tested Blackhole by Existential Audio - same results. Audio crackles and pops in Live 10 (10.1.18 and older versions).
Note2 ; when choosing another input source in Live ( my usb audio interface) there's no issues.
