Is this really not a feature? It'd be great to right click on some audio track and 'save as preset' (routing config, any plugins, etc) and then right click later, Insert Audio Track has an optional fold-out menu with your presets.
Is it useless to yell into the void and request such a feature? Is there some way of getting there I'm not realizing?
Audio track presets?
Re: Audio track presets?
You can already save all the instruments, fx, plugins, etc on your track as a Rack preset for use in other projects.
You can already import tracks (with all their sounds/MIDI, instruments, fx, plugins, and automation) from other projects.
You can already save an entire project configuration as default or as a "preset" (simply save the session for later use).
But saving an individual track's routing would be really hit or miss as Live projects are rarely the same size or configuration. If you save a routing for an audio channel to be sent to channel 20, but only have 12 channels in your project, or if channel 20 happens to be a MIDI track, or in this case the track needs to be routed to channel 18, then what? Then you'll need to reconfigure it manually anyway, like the current way Live works.
