Automation doesn't record

Here is the situation: I have a midi-track (with notes) and I want to add a phaser effect on top if it.

So, I drag and drop the phaser effect on the track, assign my pedal to its "Amount" parameter. When playing the track, I hear the phaser going on while changing the position of the pedal.
Then I start recording with the "+" sign on, so that I can record new info on top of the track without erasing its existing content. While recording I hear the phaser effect, but when I play the track again while checking the LFO amount automation, it didn't record what I was doing.

So, what did I forget?

What view you recording in, mate? Session or Arrangement?

I'm working in arrangement view. The strange thing is I did the same earlier and than it worked...

Do you also have the "Automation Arm" button enabled?

No, I didn't... and that explains why it didn't work of course!
