Push2 not getting past logo, have tried all help solutions
Hello.
I have been using a Push2 without any problems for a while in my setup. Recently I took a break from making music and have come back to find that my Push2 will not connect to Ableton. Here is what I have tried:
- remove Push device in windows
- remove Push control surface in Ableton
- use display adapter preferences to force Open GL rendering on my video card.
The Push is being detected by windows. Ableton configures itself for the Push. The touch-strip dot illuminates and will track my finger but the display remains stuck at the logo.
Things that have changed in my system since my last successful Push usage:
- changed PC power supply (shouldn't matter)
- changed video card drivers to the NVIDIA studio driver (1080 card). I'm suspecting this might be the problem.
- have tried to upgrade windows to build 2004 a couple of times but it has always failed.
Can anyone give me any suggestions on what I can try to get the Push working again? This is super-frustrating because everything looks to be configured correctly and this has worked without any issues in the past. I can't figure out what has changed that's causing the problem.

There's a lot of chances that this is the culprit? Can you try with another driver (e.g an older version if yours is currently up-to-date)?

It there a version I should downgrade to? This is a little concerning because AFAIK you need the newest drivers for Windows 10 build 2004 but you think I need the older drivers? I guess I can try it.
Re: Push2 not getting past logo, have tried all help solutions
Tried going back to the default windows update driver that downloads instead of the NVIDIA-site one, didn't have any effect. Still powers on to the logo, appears as a control surface, but the display never updates.

Maybe something brake when you tried to unsuccessfully tried to update your Windows then?
I can’t help further I don’t know Win. Drop a line to [email protected]
Do you have access to another computer with Live installed and try plugging in Push?

Do you see the “push2displayprocess” running in task manager?
I occasionally get the same issue where I switch on push and it never connects to live but is detected by windows. I’m able to fix mine by switch off and on again and it comes good but this only occurs sometimes and the fix is simple.

Yes I see the process but it seems to do very little in terms of cpu.

It probably wont do anything with CPU until something is passed through it and even then I wouldn't expect it to be a huge drain on a modern system.
Have you tried to just run live in Admin mode? Also, when live has started have you tried to then power cycle the Push? Lastly, try unplug the USB from the rear of push and reseat it firmly. Could be a slight contact issue since it can be hard to get the plug all the way in. Also try a different USB port on the PC.
I don't really have much further as apart from the occasional hiccup, Push should just "work".

I solved it. Here is what I did:
I had the NVIDIA Studio driver installed. This is the latest driver from NVIDIA. It installs a display process service. I uninstalled the studio driver, then the physics engine, then the control panel, then I disabled the service in System Configuration. "NVIDIA Display Container LS". Now the Push is working with Live just fine.

Re: Push2 not getting past logo, have tried all help solutions
I recently purchased a brand new push2 and I am having similar issues with it. Honestly on mine the entire screen turns blue when I try to use it on my laptop. I have used it successfully on my studio desktop so it is not the PUSH2 that is the problem. However when I try to use it on my Toshiba Sattellite Laptop which has an earlier I7 processor and Microsoft HD4000 graphics on it I just get that blue screen. I run all sorts of software easily on this laptop in fact it is by far one of the best computers I have ever owned. I noticed your comment about the "use display adapter preferences to force OpenGL rendering on my video card" How do you do this exactly because I THINK that is what might be the problem with mine? I would love to be able to use push2 on this laptop. I recently sold a very nice Novation Launchpad Pro Mk3 which worked fantastic on my laptop and I decided that the grid controller was the way to go with ableton so I decided to sell it to a friend and use the money to help pay for the far more expensive push2. I would appreciate any advice about this issue. Thank you.tuj wrote: ↑Sun Oct 18, 2020 12:09 pmHello.
