Automation curves update rate

Post by Bulemy » Wed Dec 09, 2020 4:10 pm

As far as I know, in fl studio the automation is updated by each audio sample, which leads to perfect control of automation parameters.
It seems that this is not the case in ableton, because extreme automation lines during freeze / flatten or recording often do not keep up with or even ahead of the signal. Or am I wrong?
In general, what is the update rate for automation parameters in ableton? In my opinion, it should be possible to edit automation down to one sample.
Maybe this is possible inside the audio clip, but on arrangement tracks it is "Smoothed" to reduce processor consumption / smoother sound? Where can i find information about this? Thank you!

Did you come across any real-case scenario where you could hear the automation smoothing?

of course, this does not happen often. Not even, it happens very rarely. But if necessary, I know that anyone want to have such an opportunity. Do you agree? However, it depends on the size of the buffer, so more computer power needs to be used here.
