some way to lock the current clip view zoom?

Looking at this beat academy tutorial on youtube: https://youtu.be/L1Joyf2fO8g

At 4:21, he double-clicks on a looped clip in the Arrangement view to open up the clip in the the Clip View at the bottom. The result is the “unfolded" looped clip, zoomed out so that the entire recording is visible. He then goes through a process of highlighting & slicing up various takes of the clip to comp together the best parts of multiple takes. Throughout this process, the zoom level of the Clip View never changes.

But when I double click on a looped clip, the Clip View shows only the current take (not the entire unrolled recording). And then when I make any selection on the track, the Clip View immediately zooms into that selection. I realize that I can zoom out manually each time, but I would like to replicate the behavior in the video, with the the zoom level of the Clip View fixed so that I can always see the whole thing.

Is there some option or preference that would facilitate this behavior? Or something else I'm missing?
