Triggering drum racks with piezo mics- how to configure it all

Post by Andyroo66 » Thu Jan 14, 2021 11:44 am

I wanna trigger all my drum racks samples with a percussion instrument that has piezo mics on it
In theory I can do this with something like Aptrigga but I am struggling to get my head around how to map it all out correctly
So for example I have 8 piezo mics on an external instrument and different samples will be triggered by hitting the external instrument in the 8 different places.
Each waveform that comes off the external instrument will be similar so Im struggling with how I will assign each mic to each drum pad sample
Then after I lay down one loop I want to lay down another loop with another drum rack.
Ive pretty much figured out how i can do this with Ableton Looper settings the only drawback being if i change the tempo the pitch will change as well, Im gonna have to live with that for the moment as i can't afford Push
Sorry if I'm maybe not using the correct terminology but just trying to get my head round how to route each piezo signal to a specific drum rack sample

Any experience to share out there? Cheers

Hello.
It seems that this device

https://www.maxforlive.com/library/devi ... io-to-midi

is what you need.
A piezzo per track with this device.
Just choose a good threshold for each piezzo..
And send each track to your drum track.
It should work...
