Legacy issues in live

Post by wongpongding » Sat Jan 30, 2021 10:42 am

A few things have been bugging me about Live. Don't get me wrong, it's still great and about to get better but some of the effects have legacy/almost bugs left in them. Please correct me if appropriate because I'm happy to be wrong about these :)

Autopan window: In terms of cycles, the window is meaningless isn't it? It doesn't represent a bar which is what you may assume on first look, it's some odd fraction of a bar, which renders accurate panning based on visual feedback impossible. I don't get it.

Autofilter: Does anyone actually use it as an autofilter? The range and starting point are odd; I can never get it to do a simple sweep as I would by automating the frequency. I think this is why the display does not reflect any 'auto' settings - it would show the odd base settings and limitations of them.

Track status: 5 different types. Utterly confusing. I thought they would be useful for cueing but no, just confusing and seemingly just eye candy. A setting in preferences to have them all display the same e.g. time left in seconds or to turn off completely would make sense.

Cheers

Autop Pan: I actually never noticed this, but I'm setting it by ear, which it's fine enough for me when doing music

Auto Filter: I rarely use it with it's built-in modulation system so I might not be aware of something wrong, but in the meantime I don't recall not being able to modulate it the way I wanted when I needed the built-in modulation.
I'll do some in-depth tests.

Track Status: I'm not sure what you're talking about?

Aye, the range for auto filter appears to be much less than actual frequency range available. Try a ramp up using the full range on the range knob (30 I think) and see if It opens the filter up from fully closed to fully open using different starting frequencies. I can't even get close.

Track status are those pies and bars that at the bottom of each track column in Session view.

Cheers
