One measure rest breaking phrasing

Post by Atticus R » Mon Feb 01, 2021 7:33 pm

Hey everyone this might be a silly question but I'm working on a beat and I'm stumped hoping someone can point me in the right direction / yell at me like I'm stupid. So I might not be describing the situation super clearly, but the picture should help. I need a one measure rest between loops and Ableton's timeline grid thing insists that for the rest of the song the loops after the rest are all starting one measure into the phrase and going over by one. IT makes it incredibly annoying to edit because Ableton won't let me start things at measure 1 in the phrase without zooming in super far. Hope my picture helps. Any advice is very welcome!

By the picture and the phrasing it's still not clear what the problem is.
It seems like you have your grid set at either Adaptive Medium or Fixed 8 Bars. Try changing that to a narrower setting (right-click in an empty arrangement area) and see if that helps with the snapping.
Another option is to set bar 49 at a 1/4 time signature, and then bar 53 back to 4/4, so all the lines in your grid will shift that one measure to the right.
