if you have "select on launch" enabled...
then you can simply hit the delete key...
or use automapPro/bomes etc.

It's a workaround I guess...
It'd be awesome to not have to launch the clip though - cos unless you mute the track, the loop starts to play before you can delete it...

Getting closer though! I've mapped delete, copy, paste and all the arrow keys to my SL mkII - now (PROVIDING that ableton is in focus, which sometimes it is not because I may be using MLR/nonome or have just configured something in automap or done a spotlight search etc)
But - providing ableton is in focus, I can use the SL as if it is a computer keyboard with shortcuts for copy, paste and delete - it IS slightly easier than using the computer keyboard as the shortcuts only take one finger and I know where each one is, don't have to go up to the keyboard and get comfy on the keys and all that (only takes a sec longer but, it's still a second!)

I'm going to look into this clyphx thing too - looks like a good bit of reading for tonight ;-)

Thankyou wise ones ;-)

I don't see where in the Clyphx manual it supports deleting clips. It uses the Live API just like everything else, which does not seem to support deleting clips.

Foot controller people, unite! We need a better method. We need Live to support this in the API, so a script like STC or Clyphx can map to it.

I would prefer not to have to use Bome's midi translator to delete, because I pay enough money for Live; it seems like I should be able to delete things via MIDI. I would also very much like to have a reliable set of foot buttons to delete the clip in track X in the current scene, and I don't think that's possible with Bomes.

Shit sorry I should have said 'clear' clip although it might still be useful- I use it to empty a midi clip used for step sequencing with Hanz Petrov's remote scripts - the only alternative is to find all the notes and turn them off which is a complete drag.
Sorry for the possible bum steer folks

For me as live looper with cello it's a big hassle to delete a recorded clip while playing. I think it should be possible to delete a clip by midi. Would be so wonderful for live loop musicians.

still no news on a midi delete function? why not code it like a standard analog looper pedal, short click record, short click stop, short click play, long (2 second) click delete.. shouldnt be too difficult to put this into code or an optional update, right? or did they already solve the problem, because im still struggling with this in suite 9 now - and any workarounds, as good as they might be, dont seem to be the best choice. i mean, such a basic function should be part of the program imo.

LPC-Live 2 is a pretty essential upgrade for the Launchpad. It has everything and the kitchen sink.

So how do you delete forever from a session view?
