selecting clip behavior changes on me

Sometimes I have to click on a clip twice to delete it. Sometimes this goes away. I can't replicate it on my other Ableton machine. Is it a control surface issue?

still having this behavior in live 11, which has to mean it is related to a control surface or something else that I am missing.

System specs, what controller - how can we help without info? 8O
