Question about spectrum frequency analysis

Post by guitar346 » Tue Feb 16, 2021 9:29 pm

Say you're trying to reduce frequency masking. Is there a way to have the audio for two different tracks show up on the spectrum analyzer? So that you don't have to use two plugins (one on each track) and flip back and forth between the two tracks.

Or perhaps there's a third-party plugin for this purpose?

AFAIK, there is not a built-in device for that, Spectrum only shows 1 track.

There are quite a few plugins like Voxengo SPAN and M4L devices like MultiAnalyser XL.

What you could do is create a return track just for the spectrum then send the 2 tracks you want to analyse to the return track with spectrum on it, just set the output for that return to 0 so it doesn't add to the master.... or just group the tracks and add to the group but I find using return for things like this far more flexible.

I use ProEQ for this tho because Live STILL cannot pop out it's devices to allow monitoring things like Spectrum while fiddling with another track.
