My ableton easter bunny whishlist

Hi here is my easter bunny Wishlist for Ableton. I must say that I love the easiness and workflow of Ableton. But if they would just ad this few little things the program would be amazing and outstanding and be used by much more people. (know this is a long list but I hope it will get shorter in time)

1. Waveform zoom
Everyone who has worked with it knows how important it is to remove noise from a recording which is hard to see in the normal waveform. And turning up the gain of each clip just to see it´s waveform better can be potentially dangerous for your speakers and ears in case you forget to turn it down before playing. So just a little zoom knob on the screen would be soo nice.

2. Improvement of Session view with mixing mode
Here are a few things which would be make a huge improvement and make less people exporting their files to pro tools for mixing:
• The ability to apply one FX to a selection or all track with one drag and drop. This could be simply done by linking the FX part of the channel to the rest of its behaviour. Like with volume or panning it would be so cool to be able to TURN ON AND OF, ADD, REMOVE, BYPASS the FX on all channels that are linked or selected.
• Next thing I wish for is a PUGIN WINDOW in session view. This could be look like a tree structure where you can see all the Racks and its content.

3. More export functions:
• export multiple clips at once in a format of choice (right now it´s so hard to get things out of Ableton)
• MONO TRACKS, when exporting you only can choose to change all exported tracks to mono or else all will be stereo. That means you must export Mono and Stereo tracks separately to get the right results.
• WITH OR WITHOUT FX, it would be nice if you could choose if the export gets the fx rendered in or not. Just a little click box would do.

4. Tab to transient: This is a little feature that matters a lot when you want to jump to the start of a drum recording and cut there. Right now, you must go down to the sample editor and mark the transient, then click on the track and then press cmd and E.

5. Having the tracks on left side:
I know this is just an optical thing, but some people like to have the track information on the left side of the screen like is in other DAW´s. To have a choice would be so nice.

6. Auto align records even when input monitoring is on:
If I get it right Ableton just compensates for the Latency when Input monitoring is off. But If you want to record an electric guitar or a bass you want to hear what you are playing. Ableton should compensate the latency of any recording so all is in sync. I don´t know why this is not the case.

7. Transient markers in Arrangement window to align tracks:
It would be cool to see transient and stretch markers in the actual arrangement window to be able to see how it fits the tracks above and below.

8. Track Icons!
Everyone who has worked with logic or reaper knows how fancy and helpful TRACK ICONS are. PLEASE ABLETON. Its just an optical thing but makes producing so much more fun.

9. Chord track:
A particularly good example of this feature is studio one. Not a must but very cool to do some quick changes in the arrangement. Have a look at studio one and steal it 😊

10. Arranger Track:
Same thing with the Arranger Track. Like in Logic where you can just link or unlink the content of the Arrangement with this track, so if you want to change, copy or cut a section it can be done with one move.

11. List of LOCATERS AND ARRANGEMENT MARKERS:
As the previous option this could be useful to have an overview over the project.

12. Shuffle mode:
I know you can insert silence and cut sections but to have a shuffle mode like pro tools or logic where you can choose that if something gets cut out of the arrangement then the whole track or all tracks (as an option) would move to either the right or left (as option) like in reaper.

13. Advanced Grouping features:
Here it would be nice to have a little click box where you can switch on/off what parameters should be grouped like sends, pan volume etc.

14. Strip silence:
This would be sooo useful. Right now, it is annoying to remove noise from a recording. Look at pro tools strip silence function!

15. Apply Fades to selected clips:
Right now, you must add a fade to each clip individually. It would be so cool to just select the clips you want and then do the fading on each of them, and all others would have the same fade as well.

16. SELECTED CLIPS should be treated the same:
What I mean is the same as with the fades. If you select some clips either on the same or separate tracks and trim or do anything with it this should apply to all selected clips as well.

17. Lock Clip Position and set Track time base:
This could be useful if you want to play around with the song tempo to see what the best tempo is, but you want some clips or tracks not to follow this change.

18. Better PLUGIN FOLDERS:
Just more options to sort your plugins and structure them in named folders would be cool instead of having a few colours.

So this is my very long wish list and I would be happy if Ableton takes the time and realizes some of this features because it would make working with the program much more fun! 😊
