Re: More collection colors?
+++ 100 for more 'collections' options !!!!
I am 1 year in to my Production / Ableton journey and trying to get my head around where everything is, presets, instruments, effects racks, sounds samples e.t.c is a nightmare and driving me a little mad. Everything seems to be nestled in sub menus and trying to remember where everything is is a constant battle.
The collections system eases all of that searching and is the only way i have found of easily grouping similar creative tools and resources in an organised way. Am glad to see so many other people wanting/needing this functionality. Glad but at the same time disheartened as nothing appears forthcoming from the developer to help.
I have learned that one of the most important elements to creation, in whatever medium, is having your tools quick to hand and easily accessible.
But, with Ableton 11 just being released and after purchasing the upgrade its really frustrating to not see any sign of improvement in this area apart from the new 'Templates ' Category

Re: More collection colors?
More colors, good point. But...
... there is already a tab called "Instruments" and "Audio Effects" (also sorted since Live 11), but I cannot put my VST2, VST3 and M4L plugin references in. Why?... Other DAWs treat their included plugins the same way as 3rd party plugins. So you find them all in ONE combined collection. Cubases for instance does this automatically by function and by vendor, VST3 prefered, you can exclude unneeded. And if you need your own collections you can create an unlimited amount including nested folders.
For me all plugins should be made available from the "Instruments" and "Audio Effects" tab - automatically pre-sorted by function or vendor. And you can customize it as you wish. All settings as usual stored in the Ableton user library folder. That would be consistency and also get rid of the tab "plug-ins".

Re: More collection colors?
+1 Most helpful for me is lots more variations/shades of different color groups so I can visually group related-but-different tracks accordingly.
Re: More collection colors?
I think it is much more important to finally add an articulation map (for cinematics, orchestral music) than more colors
