MIDI Programmable Pedal

Post by Noodles_ » Fri May 08, 2020 5:55 pm

My setup includes a Push 2 and my Yamaha DGX-650. They're both great and really robust but I'm looking to have one or two MIDI programmable expression pedals (0-127) that I can MIDI map to whatever parameter and adjust while I'm playing... Both my keyboard the Push 2 don't support expression pedals, only sustain.

Does anyone know of a MIDI interface or some other workaround to this issue? Any insight would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

The behavior of the sustain plug is usually determined both by the physical hardware and the software of the device itself.

90% of the time, these are designed to simply be polar. On or off. On some fancier keyboards there are variants, but those also usually use different actual hardware.

To do the full range, they’d need to use more expensive parts. So a sustain is usually just good for sustain pedals. You’d need an expression pedal input like some keyboards offer.
