How to batch convert "aif" to "wav"
How to batch convert "aif" to "wav"
Hello everyone.
I am having an "issue" that might be too easy to be true for many but for me looks like a tall mountain....
I sometimes have a sample folder in ".aif" format which only ableton (as far as i know) can open.
So sometimes i want to use some of these samples on my ipad.
What i do is, say i have 20 percussion samples and they are named "Agogo 1 -Agogo 2- Agogo 3 etc etc" my solution till now is throw
the "aif" samples into a new project, freeze+bounce and then select all and click "show in finder".
Though i find the samples and everything , the names are severly altered , to a state of making them unusable .
Is there a way of converting samples from the "aif" ableton format tto simple "wav" etc? Am i doing something wrong with my method?
Like how do i easily convert something from being: Agogo 1.aif Agogo 2.aif to Agogo 1.wav Agogo 2.wav ?
Thanks in advance in case anyone has a tip.
Cheers

Re: How to batch convert "aif" to "wav"
AIFF is not an Ableton Live only format.
however, to convert them i would use an external audio utility batch app, not Live.
i use Myriad for this, but it's not available for purchase at the moment:
https://www.zynaptiq.com/macaudioapps/
a Windows-only option is r8brain:
https://www.voxengo.com/product/r8brain/
there are a bunch of other apps that will do this too...

Are you sure it was Myriad that you were using? I've just installed the demo version from https://www.zynaptiq.com/macaudioapps/m ... downloads/ and it doesn't seem to have anything even remotely resembling a converter. As for your comment about lots of other apps that will do this, well, MediaHuman Audio converter and Pro Audio Converter, both very capable apps, neither of them handle Ableton AIF files.

My mistake! The option is hidden away in the Workflow menu option. Sorry

Re: How to batch convert "aif" to "wav"
I tried loading up an Ableton AIF from the downloaded packs, and first attempted a Convert to Wave and then a Convert to Wave64. It tells me there is an error each time. In fact I have not found a single destination format to which this AIF file can be converted.
Your thoughts?

Those AIF files are protected that's why, you won't be able to convert them with any app.

That's what I thought, but the message from FishMonkey seemed to suggest that Myriad would be able to get round the problem.
After all, it is possible to remove the protection on a file by file basis, by cropping the AIF. Ironically, and quite hilariously, this can be done by Ableton Live itself. I thought that one of the operations offered by Myriad might do the trick on a batch basis.

Sadly no, I use Myriad almost every day and it can't convert copy protected AIF files
