Guitar hum becoming unbearable via Instrument input.
Guitar hum becoming unbearable via Instrument input.
A problem I'm now dealing with is excessive AC Hum using my Instrumen Input on my Clarett 8 pre.
Would a DI box such as one below help here?
Countryman Type 85 1-channel Active Instrument Direct Box
Thanks.

Re: Guitar hum becoming unbearable via Instrument input.
Probably yes, but I suppose you should first try isolating your Clarett's power, your guitar cable and stomp boxes if any, and of course move your guitar to find the less electromagnetic place.
Is it something that just appeared because this is a new soundcard?

I had this box since March of last year.[jur] wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 3:16 pmProbably yes, but I suppose you should first try isolating your Clarett's power, your guitar cable and stomp boxes if any, and of course move your guitar to find the less electromagnetic place.

Always had a tiny amount (basically imperceptible in the mix) of hum (recording a Mexican Strat and Mexican Tele), but recently it became unbearable. (within last Month or two).
Makes it difficult to use Amp plugins for distorted tones.

Probably worth finding out what has changed within this "last month or two".jlgrimes wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 5:29 pmI had this box since March of last year.[jur] wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 3:16 pmProbably yes, but I suppose you should first try isolating your Clarett's power, your guitar cable and stomp boxes if any, and of course move your guitar to find the less electromagnetic place.

I'd rather suspect an e-cigarette, but who knows, this could also be an electric toothbrush.
