Richie Hawtin CTRL Xone:92

Post by funkdefino » Fri Oct 07, 2005 3:46 am

Just spent an hour with the mixer. It needed to be cleaned because it was "road worn" (finger grease, fog grime, dust). I offered the tour manager to take care of it and he said, "go for it".

This thing is sharp. I think I preffer the set-up over the 3-D now that I got up close and personal.

WOW! 8)
What is that? A .38?

i am of the same opinion, they should have commercialized the Xone CTRL instead of doing a 3D.

I am still happy about them having done the 3D as its better than not bringing anything at all, but still a Xone 92 CTRL would have kicked ass...

That is a no brainer.... OF COURSE IT'S BETTER THAN THE 3D.

The 3D has that huge gap in the middle for the audio mixer section, which really bugs the hell out of me. I hate that.

Plus, I play my sets totally in Live, so I've got no use for an audio mixer for turntables/CD players.

I have a Xone 62 mixer, and that it exactly the layout I want for a Live Midi controller. So the Xone CTRL would be ideal.

there's nothing secret about it. normally richiehawtin.com includes a bunch of pictures, with mouseovers indicating what new/mod'd section does what. maybe it'll be back once the de9 promo is done.

Call me crazy but I think its kinda ugly...maybe because of the white background. Allen & Heath is da bomb though, you know that thing is a tank!

I want a controller with a built in bubble machine! ;)

please log onto the Xone forum on www.xone.co.uk and post in the thread where they ask for how many users would be willing to buy a CTRL.

I think I can see what they were aiming at with the 3D: installation in clubs. You've got an A&H mixer there, plus the MIDI stuff for Live users. Makes sense in that regard because it's essentially plug'n'play, plug in your lappy and off you go, but I think for a player who's going from club to club, unless you're combining real dex with Live, there are better solutions (if only that UC33e had a fucking crossfader and more knobs....)

I do want a CTRL92, though, I only fear that, even if they made it, I couldn't afford it... well, I could afford the unit, but could I afford the divorce?
