Live can't see VST2s after upgrade from version 11.1

Post by ricecrispies » Thu Feb 10, 2022 9:55 pm

I upgraded from Live 11.0.12 to 11.1 and suddenly it no longer seems able to see any of my VST2s (although it does see my VST3s).

What had been working up that point was that my custom VST2 folder in Live was a folder containing shortcuts to all the various locations of VST2s in my Program Files folder and elsewhere. I have changed nothing, but they are now reported missing by Live.

How can I fix this?

I've found this post viewtopic.php?f=1&p=1798822 about the same issue. Apparently this is a known breakage. To get round it, you either have to copy all your VST2s to the single VST2 folder that Live allows you, or open a command prompt and go through the tedious process of replacing shortcuts with symlinks.

For those having issues with VST2 and VST3 plug ins in custom directories, the latest beta released today addresses that:

- Fixed an issue that caused scanning VST plug-ins from Live’s Preferences on Apple Silicon computers to take longer than expected.
- Scanning VST2 and VST3 custom folder paths now works as expected.
