Careful, making a suggestion to do things correctly first time tends to get some kids worked up. Guess this is the difference between the experienced users that learned this and don't have problems at the moment and those that have to roll back or wait for another update. Prob is, no one these days want's to hear about suggestions on how to keep things tidy to avoid potential issues like this occurring.

I find Live still very interesting, and is my DAW of choice, but the forum is taking itself down this way "middlefingering" other people!

Same here, been slowly withdrawing from this forum, although have been rather busy, doing lots exciting audio beta testing recently.

Used to frequent NI forums, but since their forum revamp, which I don't like, not been there since.

Nice to see users unhelpfully trolling these threads. Bottom line is that many plugins can only be installed to a default path. UAD being a major one. I would suggest that Ableton rollback and allow us to simply use shortcuts again, instead of expecting us to tediously copy stuff over and bloat laptop hardrives with gigs-worth of unnecessary data.

Not true, the huge vast majority of installers will allow the user to define the installation folder, with very few minor exceptions with Waves being one. But they are the only one I have personally experienced. Maybe you should be asking UAD why they dont allow you to chose your own installation path.

We've already said the VST2 issue is going to be addressed in an upcoming beta release shortly.

For those having issues with VST2 and VST3 plug ins in custom directories, the latest beta released today addresses that:

- Fixed an issue that caused scanning VST plug-ins from Live’s Preferences on Apple Silicon computers to take longer than expected.
- Scanning VST2 and VST3 custom folder paths now works as expected.
