One physical control, two macro knobs, how?

Okay, I know how to map a single CC control to a single Macro knob, and I know how to map a single CC control to two Macro knobs.

What I don't know how to do is treat each macro knob as a bank of macro knobs whereby I can turn that CC knob but only control one of the macro knobs and not turn both of them at the same time.

Is there a way to take MIDI CC input on a track and send it to a specific bank of 8 macro knobs, then switch to another bank of 8 macro knobs?
