VST 2 not seen in Live on M1 Mac studio unless using Rosetta ?

Post by chapelier fou » Sun Apr 24, 2022 7:10 pm

I just made a fresh install of everything on my new Mac Studio.
The only plugin I use is Kontakt. Live 11.1.1 only sees the VST3 plugins. Which is annoying as it won't load Kontakt on live sets made on my previous computer.
However, if I run Live with Rosetta, the VST2 folder is recognized and everything works fine. Except it's Rosetta.
So :
- Is there anything to do so my VST2 folder is seen natively ?
- Or, if it's impossible, is there a way to replace a "missing" VST2 by its VST3 equivalent so I can have m old sets running ?

Thanks !

Read this
and use the AU or VST3 version (Kontakt is silicon ready since recently)
Unfortunately there's no way to convert plugins formats automatically, you need to do all this boring stuff manually...

Thanks a lot. That’s going to be extremely boring indeed…
Si basically, run Live under Rosetta, write down all Kontakt settings, then relaunch Live natively, and load the vst3 version, copy the settings manually… wow.

Best to save the Kontakt patch in Rosetta and then open the patch in the native version

You're so damn right : this way I can copy the track and compare the original with the VST3 "copy" to make sure it sounds the same. Thank you for the help !

You can thank NI for that one. Had they used the same ID for the VST3 version it would've been seamless when you opened that project and you wouldnt even notice the VST2 was gone.. Now that they're finally getting their act together and sloooooooowly updating the plugins, they're going to have a lot of angry customers if they don't start doing it right. If they overlooked that simple and very important detail on their flagship sampler, I'd bet the rest of the Komplete lineup is going to be a mess when it gets updated heh.

Thanks. That’s worth trying to reach NI support then.
