This is a little annoyance as it makes me change the (especially midi) inputs and outputs in my default live set everytime I turn on my audioterface (UMC1820) or restart Live).
Everytime Ableton recognizes the interface anew it gives it a different number, like "UMC1820 #2", #3, ... I believe there are now 5 of these...
Can we somehow delete this log of the multiple instances of the same interface somewhere in Live's system folder?
Thanks for your help - especially from people who have had the same issue with this, or other, interfaces

Re: UMC1820 Audio Interface Keeps changing ID numbers in Ableton...
Ok, I think I "solved it".
I went into Audio Midi Configuration (on Mac) and into the Midi Studio. There, indeed, were several instances of "UMC1820". It seems like everytime (or every other time) I turn on the interface the computer does not recognize the previous UMC1820 midi interface and creates a new one, with the same name. So I just had to delete all the others and leave one, and it was ok.
However, it still does the same thing everytime: creates new interfaces, so I have to go in often and delete all but leave one before I start Live...
Not perfect but can be useful to others.

Thanks for letting us know what it was. Make sure you’re using the latest drivers for that audio card if you haven’t already too.

That's a good idea, but for mac there are no drivers, so I guess this problem will persist. Maybe it is a matter of updating the macOS.

Re: UMC1820 Audio Interface Keeps changing ID numbers in Ableton...
I've never seen this before with mine, granted mine is being used as an audio interface on my MPC Live. When I mount the MPC as a 'controller' this mounts the USB bus on the Mac, so you can back it up or copy samples to the internal drive, along with all the USB junk attached to the MPC. I do this all the time to connect my AMT8 midi interface from MPC to Mac to edit my synths with MIDI Quest, and the UMC always passes through as well and as many times as I've mounted it, I've still only got the original entry for the 1820 in my MIDI devices in Audio MIDI Setup. Is there a way to trash the prefs for AudioMIDI setup and just start over?? Maybe something in there got tweaked to the point it cant place the interface back with its old entry?Audiophillic wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 8:27 amOk, I think I "solved it".
