Mouse Selection Mapping

Post by JCSCHNEIDS » Mon Jul 18, 2022 7:05 pm

Hey Ableton Friends,

I was hoping to find a way or suggest to implement my idea of mouse selection to midi mapping.
The goal is to have 1 MIDI control knob, fader, etc. to be active with mouse selection without having to map it every time.

For example,
You own a APC Mini 25 and you've deemed that the upper right most knob is your "Master Selector" (or some other name)
When you have a track open you select the volume fader on your Drum Bus
Then, with the "Master Selector" Midi Control you can turn that knob to turn the volume down
After that you want to Pan it to the Left, so you select it and with the Master Selector you turn the knob and get it to the left
Then you go into a different track with an Synth Instrument on it and you want to change the Filter Cutoff
Again, you select the Filter Cutoff and turn your Master Selector knob to 75%

All this being done without having to map. I understand you can click and drag your mouse to change parameters but I would love to have a physical knob to work with. I wonder if the coding would be a Master Map where you could map your device to one knob and it follows the mouse selection.

Thank you all in advance! I love this software and this community :D

You can do this with remotify, or a “nob”. I believe there’s even some M4L devices that do this.

Thank you! I was hoping to find a free option (obviously) but those do help.
I've tried to find a M4L device but can't seem to find one, so if you know of one I would love to get that link.

I think remotify has a free option but I’m not positive. Here’s a link to the device I found https://maxforlive.com/library/device/8 ... param-knob
