Save M4L device mappings in effect racks presets
Save M4L device mappings in effect racks presets
Hep,
I try to save my M4L device mapping in effect rack. The idea is to have pre-mapped M4L modulation device on VSTs that lack modulation ( Unfilterd Audio latest effects for instance ). That way I can recall the rack and I don't have to remap everything everytime.
The problem is that it seems that M4L devices can't save their mapping when they are saved in an Effect Rack preset. I tried with third party M4L devices and also with stock lfos.
It seems weird to me that it's impossible to do.
Any idea or workaround ?
Cheers
K

Which Live version?
Are you sure the mappings are lost, or only the parameters names are gone when reopening your set? I'm asking this because there's a bug currently where mapped parameters names aren't recalled correctly, but the mappings aren't actually lost. Usually, minimising and re-maximizing the M4L device does bring back the mapped parameters names.

Tks for your answer
I'm on Live 11, last version 11.2.5. Mac M1 version
I just retried and the mapping is completely gone, not just the name.

Is it happening with every VST, or only with the Unfiltered Audio one you mentioned?

In fact I just realized it actualy did work with the live devices ( instruments or effects) but with all the VST, effect or instrument it never works. I tried with UA effects, Aalto, Valhalla delay etc
Re: Save M4L device mappings in effect racks presets
I just tried with an LFO and a VST and I can't reproduce. Saved Racks are properly recalled from the Browser, and in Live Sets.
Can you try with AUs and let us know?

Re: Save M4L device mappings in effect racks presets
Thanks very much !
The problem comes from the AU format. I said I was using Vsts but I was actually using AU versions of the plugins. I just tried with vst 3 and vst 2 versions and it works perfectly.
Thanks a lot ! I doesn't tell me why it's not working with the Au version but at least I have a workaround.
I'll report the bug to ableton

Re: Save M4L device mappings in effect racks presets
Well, I just tried with various AUs, and I can reproduce every time.
Nice catch.
Please let me know when you reported it so I don't need to create a duplicate ticket.
