mapping program change messages to chain selector in instrument rack

I recently got the nektar GXP49. It has dedicated buttons that send program change messages. The controller works great with Nektarine and Bitwig where I can easily map the program change messages to select different instruments.

When I try to map the program change messages to chain selector in the instrument rack I get incorrect assignments (it shows up as pitch bend). I read somewhere Ableton Live cannot map program change messages. First, I am surprised that Live decided not to support mapping those.

Is there a way to work around this problem? There are 10 buttons on the nectar GXP49 which send program change messages with different numbers.

From GXP49 manual :

"Following the 2 Repeat buttons are 4 RGB buttons labelled for use with Nektarine. The 4 buttons as well as the following 10 numerical buttons (14 total), can be assigned to send MIDI messages (Program, Bank and MIDI cc) and each can be setup to display any of the 13 color options. Read more about how to assign MIDI messages and color to buttons in the section covering the Setup menu."

Why don't you simply change the midi messages sent by the GXP49 ?

Max for Live would be another solution.

BUT, the problem is not completely solved because of the "chain selector" mapping.

You can't assign multiple midi CC to multiple positions of the chain selector. If you have Ableton 11, you'll be able to map the chain selector to a macro and then map different variations to multiple CC.

Otherwise, you could use midi clips or a Max for Live device. Do you have a M4L version ?

This problem was a blessing in disguise. I tried exploring max4live and eventually built this work-in-progress device(https://maxforlive.com/library/device/8 ... gramselect) that can help map program select messages very easily. Not only can it map messages to chain selector, but it can also exclusively arm a group of tracks with just a key press/midi controller switch.
