Automate Macro Variation from clip envelopes

I know Max for live's Smooth Operator does that, but it's buggy when there are multiple tracks using it.
I know macro variation is midi mappable but it's so complicated to have
a dummy midi track with IAC (or virtual midi on windows) to select a macro variation and then recall it (what I do, but so tedious).
It's a small thing and it will make life so much easier for so many people.
