Restart Scene at a Chosen Place

Hi Calagan, the idea is based on the fact that you can “scroll” or “shuttle” the bar counter by click+holding on it and dragging the cursor upwards.

So you can trigger a scene, then advance the transport by dragging / shuttling the bar counter to later in the scene.

If you want you could just let the scene play from where you shuttled to, or you could hit the spacebar to pause playback at that point. Then you can use Shift+spacebar to resume playback from that point.

Does that make sense?

Trigger the scene > scroll the bar-counter > spacebar to pause > shift+spacebar to resume playback from the point you shuttled to.

Hi and thanks for the info, I didn't know this feature.
It works great in the arrangement view (I'll use that, it's a nice feature), but it doesn't work (at all) in the session view and I think it was the issue of Waldorfteacher that started the thread...

Hi, in my experience it works in Session View. Sorry to hear its not working for you - can you describe the run of actions you're doing and we'll try to get to the bottom of it

To be fair, this method can get squirrily of you have Follow Actions in force in the given Scene. In my experience, not every clip with Follow Actions matches the correct amount of scrolling. If there are no Follow Actions, this method has been been reliable, in my experience. Wierd!

I just tried (again) with a very simple session : one midi clip of 12 bars in session view. No follow action, no loop, the most simple set.
It doesn't work...
Your trick moves the bar counter, yes, and when you hit shift+play it starts at the selected bar, but the midi clip starts again at the beginning, because the bar counter is indicating what happens in the arrangement, not in each midi clip...
Could you please try and confirm how it's behaving on your system ?

Thanks a lot ! You're right : I didn't get you needed to scroll "while playing". It's working on my side now.
It's truly a great trick. I will use it all the time now...

YAY! For extra points, pull down the volume somewhere in the system while the scrolling is in progress and don't annoy your friends / collegues with it
