(Beginner) Hello, what is the best setup to play a virtual instrument together with a hardware synth?
I have set a midi track to play an external Synth by setting the out to my Focusright Clarett+. For Soundtest and for tuning purpose I would like to be able to switch to a live synth audio track from time to time
Play hardware and virtual instrument from one midi track

Is what you're calling here a virtual instrument the same thing as...

Yes
I have a complex hardware setup playing chords. 3 different Live Midi Tracks play chords (Polyend Poly 2 plays 3 analog voices in a Eurorack setup)
I want the same Live Midi Tracks to also play 3 Live Audio Tracks

Does your external synth have a midi keyboard with a few midi controls to spare?.Designbureau wrote: ↑Tue Dec 20, 2022 7:40 am(Beginner) Hello, what is the best setup to play a virtual instrument together with a hardware synth?

im thinking you could take your External instrument device in Ableton, group it to an instrument Rack and add virtual synth as layer and either use midi mapped faders or rack knobs to fade in sounds or create variations to recall.
