Map knob middle position to 0db

Post by Mau5headd » Thu Jan 12, 2023 6:50 am

New to Ableton. I have mapped my EQs fine. Gain low, mid, and highs all to separate knobs on my controller. I want the upper limit of each to be 3 db, and the lower limit set to -inf db, which I have set. What I dont want is for the middle position of each knob to be in the middle of 0 db and -inf db, I want the middle position of each knob to be set at 0 db. Is this possible ?

There's probably a Max for Live way of doing it but you can get close by creating a rack with two Utilities, placed one after the other in a chain.

Map the gains of both utilities to macro 1. Set the range of Utility A as min -inf and max 0. Set the range of Utility B as min +32 and min +3; map the on/off of Utility B to macro 1 and map it so min is 1 and max is 127.

Assuming the fader is set to zero, the macro will give you a range of -inf to +3db with 0db halfway which you can then map to your controller.
