Control something on another channel

Post by wendel kos » Mon Feb 20, 2023 4:49 am

hi guys

how can i control something on another channel without selecting it?

with/from an effect rack i mean...and with with Push 2

For example, i want to use the 8 top encoders to adjust any effect parameter of a random rack, from any channel.
When i select MAP inside a rack, and switch to another channel, the mapping fuction goes off.
Isnt there a way to do this in Ableton?

Im using Push Hacker for this, but i was wondering if this is build into Live.

cheerzzz

No it's not built into live, nor any control surface, which all work on the basis of controlling whatever is in focus (blue hand)

If you were to MIDI Map directly then you are always stuck with that mapping, the Push 2 supports direct MIDI mapping in User mode if that's something you want to do.

You can use a device called Map8, which is found in the MaxForLive Essentials pack.

thanks im gonna try that one tomorrow morning, got deadlines now :)

also, i saw on Etsy some cool simple controllers, that actually look a little like that row of encoders from the Push. (from 'Park' called 8P or something)

would be a great addition to keep next to the the Push in combi with Map8
