Ableton live support for ARA 2
Re: Ableton live support for ARA 2
Actually, how come you're not just using the sample editor function as described in this post?:

If you need a proper sample editor for doing noise reduction, pop/click removal, etc., then you have to bounce back and forth between setting Melodyne as your sample editor and RX, Audition, or whatever you use. That's kludgy. We just want proper ARA 2 support like Live is a premium product, since we are paying premium prices to use it.Tito D wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 10:03 amActually, how come you're not just using the sample editor function as described in this post?:

Yeah I ended up with Melodyne Studio from a generous upgrade path and I've yet to use it to fix vocals, but I've used it's formant correction type filters, time and pitch stretching on other audio as well as Audio to MIDI. What Live has over everyone audio to MIDI wise is the drumkit separation, that along with MIDI comping are two of Lives biggest plusses to me.jonljacobi wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 6:30 pmMelodyne's also allows more granular and easier control of timing, and has, in my experience, far better audio to MIDI translation than Live. I can get useful MIDI files out of Melodyne most of the time but rarely with Live.Machinesworking wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 10:15 pmDigital Performer 11.2 just added ARA 2.
I'm not a big user of autotuning but pitch changing and messing with things in Melodyne is a lot of fun, would love it in Live.

It's truly embarrassing that we don't have ARA 2 support in 2023. Every professional producer I know uses Melodyne at some point in their process. Now that we have comping (finally), lack of ARA 2 is the only thing keeping Ableton from competing with other DAWs for vocal production. Please guys, get it together.

Compared to ARA this is insaneTito D wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 10:03 amActually, how come you're not just using the sample editor function as described in this post?:

As a user of Studio One, it is not the same as it is a much smoother process of opening the program in Melodyne, and the Plugin itself almost becomes a part of Studio One where it is much easier to undo and you can continue to listen to other parts of your song and it is much easier to either bounce to clip or back out of changes and things. It's Integrated almost to the point that you forget you are actually using a different program (which is a good thing workflow wise!).Tito D wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 10:03 amActually, how come you're not just using the sample editor function as described in this post?:

Best way to describe it is that Melodyne almost becomes a piano roll for audio.
The audio editing method is better than waiting on actually recording into Melodyne but still not as integrated as ARA.
Just imagine only being able to play audio in solo with the midi piano roll and not hear the context of your edits, or having to worry about saving/backup your midi or commit to changes every time you make a slight midi adjustment or actually worry about midi file management.
I guess it comes down to implementation of ARA but Studio One set the standard. I know Reaper has it as well (not sure if it is as good as Studio One, but I highly guess it has most of the features I mentioned above).

T'would be nice, though I use my Melodyne so rarely (something out of pitch that was otherwise so good I just couldn't replicate it...) opening the file using the external editor function is okay. I do wish I could specify multiple editors, but I've also become so used to using the clips and envelopes to trim and remove noise that it's basically a non-issue for me now.
Regardless, +1. Vote up the ARA suggestions at centercode.

Re: Ableton live support for ARA 2
the more I use Melodyne, the more firmly I wish they'd go into the 'please just build your own proprietary pitch correction into Ableton'. Melodyne is awful to work with, and glitchy as hell.
wouldn't be opposed to ARA implementation of course, but I hope they come up with a better solution first, on their own.

Working with vocalign would be so much easier.
Starting to understand why people do vocal production in other daws :/
