It would be amazing if you could keep the current ability to attach a marker to a measure/beat; but also add the ability to place a marker on the timeline. If working with musical themes only, the current system works fine. But if you're syncing to video/film, it becomes a problem to continually chase the link between hitting a mark and a beat.
It would also put you in a position where Live is the only DAW with both options (Cubase, the current favorite of film scorers links markers only to the timeline).
Align Markers to TIME not measures
Re: Align Markers to TIME not measures
I think Logic has both options. In any case, Logic implements this nicely, with the option to SMPTE-lock/unlock various elements (markers, regions, etc.). Something similar in Ableton would be nice (e.g. a SMPTE-lock/unlock option in at least the locator and clip contextual menus).danielleoh wrote: ↑Wed May 03, 2023 4:13 pmIt would also put you in a position where Live is the only DAW with both options (Cubase, the current favorite of film scorers links markers only to the timeline).

Better support for this would be nice. I assume you mean snap to time? As of now you can turn the grid off and there's a tiny marker on the timeline that you can use. Finicky to be sure, so improvements would be nice. Also, to swap the bars and time rulers so you could move the track right up against said timeline.
