I am using Ableton 10 Lite, but am considering upgrading to Ableton 11 Intro, as now require more than the limited 8 audio/MIDI tracks.
As I’m using v10, I assume I can’t just apply the new license key to unlock the Intro features and keep all my settings?
If I have to install a fresh copy of v11, will I then have to re-install all my plugins, re-configure everything and start from scratch?

TTBOMK, all versions co-exist. First rule of fight club, don't talk about fight club, but I can say that I have two versions of Live installed on each of my computers
(Hmmmm, maybe he's talking about the trial version
)
Live 11.x Suite, Push 2, AMD Ryzen 7900x @ 4.7 GHZ, Windows 11, 32 GB ram, Volt 2, Nektar T4 and Atom SQ.
Also a new lappy: i7 1269, 32 gigs of ram.

If you buy Live 11 you need to install it separately.
During the installation of 11 it copies the settings from 10.
Live 11 is installed alongside Live 10, so you could use 10 for a while.
After installation you authorise Live 11.
No need to reinstall plugins, but you probably need to do a plugin rescan.

And one other thing, in all the years I've used Live in all it's different forms, authorization is quick and painless. It basically says "you have the SN/auth" and does so. That is not always the case with other hosts.

Thanks for the replies!
Good to hear I can use 10 and 11 in tandem, as in the middle of lots of projects on 10 and don't want to have to mess around sorting out issues with 11 if there are any!
I'm slightly apprehensive about the upgrade as effectively I'm paying about £70 just to get 8 extra tracks! I know there are some other features, like maybe a few samples and effects, and the biggest change is probably more to do with 10 -> 11 than Lite -> Intro.
I wish there was something inbetween Intro and Standard for say around £100-£130, which would be much better value. Lite/Intro to Standard is a considerable jump.
Anyway I'll keep mulling it over and decide what to do!

Having checked out the new stuff in 11 Vs 10, it seems like a no-brainer to upgrade. Seems you get a lot more than 8 extra tracks!
