Hi
Assuming I have played in fairly dynamic midi clips eg percussion; what I want to do is in realtime, compress the dynamic range via controller and also allow simultaneous makeup control. Sure its the same as its audio counterpart except the dynamic response of the audio is baked in...via midi you are controlling the instrument response which are of course 2 very different things
I know I banged on about Cubase in previous thread but its my reference and I also use it as my mix vs live impro tool so Im hoping I can easily achieve that because the grid/window capture is not available in live.
In cubase, on a midi track, you have -+ velocity and velocity compression so you can just connect a quick control to 2 knobs and do that part of the performance real-time fairly easily
In Live....what do suggest is an elegant way to get the same?
Cheers
EDIT: Btw compression should be simply ratio eg 0.75:1 so that no threshold is required

Re: MIDI CLIPS: Realtime compression and ramping
Thanks
Ah RT?M!!!
makes me realise how diff the daws are
Most things are are 2 tier in cubase but templated workflow in Live
Both are good but 36 years on cubase makes it hard to remember almost anything not first tier is 3rd tier in live
Would actually be nice to use eg PIZ plugins so I dont need to fiddle again but Live doesn’t handle them properly
