automate soloing track

Hello,

what is the best way to automate solo'ing a track for short periods?
rather then automating mixer/volume drop on all tracks but the one i want solo'd, was hoping for an easier way.

Are you looking to cut all other parts and leave say just the vocal?

You could group all the tracks apart from the one you want to solo and automute that one, or route all those tracks to a sub-master and automute that.
