using push 3 and push 2 together
Hi guys,
I'm here asking for hel to understand the routing in order to use both push at the same time.
I0ve recently bought the new push 3 and i want to use push 2 as sequencer and for clips. Someone can help me to how make live recognize them?
i tried with usb pc or usb of push 3 and putting push 2 as external port of push 3 but still not recognize. it remain the screen empty on push 2.
thanks for helping, could be a nice combo for live performances.

Re: using push 3 and push 2 together
Live will only recognize one or the other, there’s no native way to use both at the same time. Maybe someone has created a M4L device for this, not sure though.

If you want a 64 pad to supplement your push you can use a Novation. They work extremely well and have pretty good functions that differ from push. Also….they are cheap. Good luck.

Re: using push 3 and push 2 together
so, live basically i can't use both push combined?
I got different info ath the beggining, I guess that my push 2 will go directly into the secondary market.
I hope to use it for the sequencer and push 3 as lead performance.

Re: using push 3 and push 2 together
Can you keep Push 2 and Push 3 connected at the same time and choose to switch between them ?
(If both are connected, what happens?)
Am thinking about getting a push 3 standalone to use around the house, with the modular etc. I use a Push2 permanently connected to a desktop mac and would plan on use the p3 away from the desktop and just connect it up when needed so would be keen not to have to disconnect the p2 in order to connect the p3.....

Live can only use one at a time. So, both can be "connected", but only one can be turned on.forestcaver wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 6:39 pmCan you keep Push 2 and Push 3 connected at the same time and choose to switch between them ?

Re: using push 3 and push 2 together
I have used Push 1 and push 2 together. It was very cool to enhance the 64 pads to 128 like the Linnstrument, or to play two synths simultaneously, and see the equal pads blinking on the other push for better orientation. It was very cool to use 16 macro knobs for one VST synth, or for an instrument rack and fx rack, or to modulate / tweak two VST synths simultaneously.
Also I was able to enhance the sequencer to 16 steps.
I was very excited to use push2 and push3 together. So I was writing to Ableton and they told me that they can’t work together but they will try to work on an solution. Push1 and push3 could work together, but there are some bugs, where the will also work on. I am really happy, that there is hope that both controllers can work together in future updates.
Two push3 controllers or push2 with Push3 is a very advanced upgrade, especially if you play notes like the Linnstrument or a guitar, with notes out of the scale.

Hey Tarekith, how about now? Any updates?
I'm sitting on a Push 1 & a Push 2 that I could sell, but keep putting it off because they might be usable with Push 3 in the future. Meanwhile, they're just sitting on a shelf & no one is getting to use them.

Re: using push 3 and push 2 together
Oldish thread but this might help in the mean time: you can use more than 1 instance of Live. I have used a 32 bit version of 9 and a 64 bit version at the same time. Currently I have used Live 11 and Live 9 simultaneously. For that I have Push 3 controlling 11 and an Akai APC40 2 as the control surface for 9 . Using link you can synch tempo between the two instances. I’m guessing the same can be done with 2 Push controllers.
