Greetings!
I've searched around, but haven't really found an answer for this. I'm using Live Lite 9.6. What I want to do is very basic. Create pitched up sample packs for hardware like Volca Sample / Novation Circuit
Here's are my goals
- Take a large chunk of audio and tune/speed/speed it up ( I'm doing this to save sample time. Pitch it down in hardware aka sp1200 trick)... This part is easy
- Create slices from larger audio file (This part is easy too). I'm doing it in Simpler.
- Export slices as WAV while having the WAV files be pitched up. (This is the part I get stuck at).
Is there a "render slices to wav" option anywhere?
quick example ... Sample 1 bar drum break into ableton > Pitch up the 1 bar break > Chop it up into 4 slices > Export 4 Slices to use in other hardware samplers.
* I'm trying to avoid manually creating separate files and renaming for each sample slice.
Export slices from Simpler as individual WAVs?
Re: Export slices from Simpler as individual WAVs?
I found this technique a while back:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46l1JTTGppA
To briefly summarize, after slicing the sample in simpler, you convert it to a drum rack, then go through each individual pad/note/slice and crop it, then access the project folder to fetch those cropped files.
I'm uncertain how to do a bulk crop, which sucks as I often am chopping long samples into 64 different slices. That said, the main reason I would be doing this would be to cherry pick certain samples to create a "composite" drum rack with selected samples from each, so in practice I can skip cropping all of them for my workflow, but it would be nice to find a technique that didn't require a manual step per slice.
This might be a trivial thing to automate w/ max4live...I've yet to dig into that.

Slicing to Sampler then cropping all the slices at once in Sampler's Zone tab is simpler (may need a Freeze/Flatten step to bounce FX).

Though with OP's simple example (1 bar break into 4 slices) I would simply slice manually, select all slices and crop in Arrangement, it is just 3 cuts.

Just noticing that when one does this neither the name of the drum pad in the rack nor the name of the device is used in the resulting file generated when cropping the sample, which kinna sucks when you are trying to deal w/ multiple samplers/racks/devices in a single project. I was trying to rename them to distinguish one from another in that folder, but instead I just have Slice 1, Slice 2, ... , Slice N. Oh well. Just copying them elsewhere and renaming. Next time I'll use an entire project per sample I'm chopping, I guess.
There has to be a better workflow than this.
