I'm experiencing some audio issues with my Push 3 standalone unit: The dreaded "pops and clicks." It's affecting all audio coming out of the Push via ADAT.
I've got audio routed out via ADAT into a Scarlett 18i20. I can confirm the following:
- Other external audio going into the 18i20 (Elektron hardware) plays just fine via Analog ins and outs.
- All audio routed through Push via ADAT as well as native Push audio is affected.
- Changing the sample rate and buffer size doesn't fix the issue.
- Push master out straight to the monitors are not suffering pops and clicks.
The quality of the pops and clicks is interesting. They're not triggered by amplitude changes and seem to be cyclical. Could be a sync issue of some sort?
Anyone else having this issue?

You need to tell your audio interface to use the Push 3 as the master clock source.
I dont have that audio interface but looking at its manual, you probably achieve this by using Focusrite Control to set the Scarletts clock source to ADAT.

I'm experiencing the same clicks and pops using a Focusrite Clarett 8pre. I think it could be because the unit is not a dedicated ADAT expansion unit but rather a primary interface. Or.. it's the optical cable. Very interested to know if you sort it out.

You nailed it. I set the 18i20's clock source to ADAT and it fixed the issue.
At this point I can really recommend the 18i20 as an ADAT i/o partner for the Push. It's worked beautifully.

I’m having the exact same issue with the Audient Evo 16 and my connected hardware set up.
Even though I have the master clock set to Receive from the Push 3, it’s still intermittently popping.
When I listen to the audio directly on the Evo 16 with Headphone, the signal is clear.
When I listen to the audio on Push 3 with ADAT returns on headphones L, the clicks and pops are there.
I think I’ll just go back to working “in the box” as this is such a mental and physical drain with all these connectivity issues.
This DAWless rabbit hole is making me reconsider my approach.

I'm using your very same interface and it works flawlessly, you have to connect both IN&OUT optical cables, then open Focusrite Control app, go to Settings and remember to switch Clock Source to ADAT.
To use the main monitors connected to the audio interface select channel 9/10 on your Master track and Cue outputs on the Push 3.

Having the same issue but the other way around.
AudioFuse X8IN sending audio via ADAT to ADAT in on Push 3. Pops when sending audio every 5-6 seconds.
Tried 2 different Hosa ADAT cables OPM-303, same issue so not the cable.
No pops and when not playing a synth / sending audio, perfectly clean.

I'm curious if anyone has found solutions for the audio quality issues using ADAT? I have an Ableton Push 3S going back and forth between my UA Apollo 8 using ADAT. I've tried Apollo as the master with Push set to "ADAT in" and I've tried Push as the master with Apollo set to "ADAT." To be clear, I don't have horrific pops and clicks, I know that issue, and this is not it. I'm getting light artifacts, just enough to make it an annoyance and just enough of a problem to prevent consistent usage. I've tried swapping in "nicer" monster ADAT cables, but it didn't make a difference. Does anyone have any solutions they've come up with to stabilize ADAT audio?

I have this exact setup and if I set the clock source in Push's Audio settings to ADAT the clicks disappear.
(I have an issue with the connector itself - but that's a hardward problem that is getting worse...)
