I was wondering

in manual warping in ableton live..........

what is the difference between:

- ****set 1.1 here****
and
- ****warp from here straight*****

i notice in most tutorial uideos.......they say to do both things, but what is the difference between these two buttons..........

Warp from here can be applied from Any marker. It could be 25.3.1 or whatever. So when you warp from 1.1.1, you’re warping from wherever the initial starting or Reference marker is placed.

As for Set 1.1.1 here, you are designating a Reference point for the clip. 1.1.1 could theoretically be anywhere, but it makes the most sense to set it on the first clear downbeat of the beginning of a Phrase.

Sometimes you might have an extended intro that is in time but doesn’t have a reference. So you’d set 1.1.1 on the part where the beat begins, warp using that reference point, but then maybe you’d go Back a few bars and change 1.1.1 to be the start of the beatless segment.

The nice thing about starting off with 1.1.1 is that you can basically eliminate any other markers and just start off with that one. You might not need any other markers. Warping from there allows the software to kind make those decisions for you.

set 1.1.1 here would not warp the track if it is already warped.

If it's unwarped then it sets 1.1.1 here, and also runs Warp From Here, hence the similarity.
