Upgrade lite 11.3 to Suite 11.2

Hello,

A reseller offers an upgrade from lite to suite at a reasonable price.
My current version of lite is 11.3. the upgrade to suite is 11.2. is that any problem at all?

you should get any live 11 upgrade regardless. if you get live 11 suite; you'll just download the latest version and get free upgrades until a v12 comes out (if I'm not missing anything).

If they’re selling you an installation file, you’re getting ripped off. I’m actually not sure what all goes into transferring a license (unless it’s an unused one) but long story short, once you have purchased Live, you should be able to have Live activated, and you should be able to log into the Ableton site in order to be able to download updates. Being able to log in and update to the latest release (particularly for bug fixes) is part of what you’re buying when you get Live.

So it should be Live 11. Not limited to a specific version of 11.

In any case, the seller should first contact Support providing the necessary infos including your email. Don’t buy anything until you get feedback from Support.

Ok,
Maybe I wasn't specific enough: the reseller is not transferring a license.
It is just the normal upgrade and sold by a store with a good reputation.
Maybe I gave the impression that it was for sale for a bargain but that is not the case. It is just a fairly good price.

I was just wondering if I could install suite 11.2 when I have lite 11.3 running but I assume that the installation will be aside the other version.

A normal upgrade would mean it would be whatever the most recent version is.

So 11.10

But you can get previous increments also I believe.

Still, if you want 11.3, and get an upgrade, it should at least be 11.3, there’s no reason why it would regress you to 11.2, if you get Live 11, if you upgrade, you’re upgrading to all available versions. Not just ‘11.2’.

I guess a part I’m not super familiar with is how the ‘upgrade’ system or process works. So maybe an upgrade might actually be a lower version, but should still give you access after installation to update to the latest version.

It might be worth looking up the most ideal process for doing an upgrade. I’d be interested to hear from others who have upgraded from Intro? What their process was?

You don't buy a license for a specific version number such as 11.2, but rather for Live Suite 11. The number after 11 is not relevant.
Once you have registered your Live Suite 11 license, you can download the most recent version of Live Suite 11, which is currently 11.3.10.
