Getting single notes from vocal loop to use as midi

I have a vocal loop that I really like, in the style of choral music, but when downloading the pack based on the sample which I liked I didn't realise it was part of a loop

I would like to be able to use the individual notes in the loop to create new melodies and progressions but am not really sure how to do it.

Sonwhat are my options? Should I just cut the loop to take a given note - and add it as midi so I can change the notes? Or will this distort the sound?

This is a fairly noob question - if its better not to bother with this and to find new samples, that's also useful just to know.

This was a few days ago, so maybe you've already solved this. But no, just slicing up the loop won't distort the sound unless you do something else that has that effect. You can do it in audio, or using a sampler (e.g. Sampler or Simpler). Simpler has a slicing mode you could try (it allows for automatic and manual slicing), or you could use Sampler (or even Drum Rack) and set up the slices yourself. There are quite a few different ways you could do it.
