I set up a project in Ableton live with scene follow action such that after 8 bars the next scene get launched. Every record enabled track will record audio and when the scene follow action jumps to the next scene another audio clip gets recorded. That is the desired outcome.
But when I open the same project on the Push 3 - the follow action works as expected, but none of the record enabled tracks record clips.
Is this a missing functionality on the Push 3 or do I need to know a secret button combination? I tried various button combinations to start the scene (Record and scene, shift and scene, etc) but without luck.
Push 3 scene follow action - not recording
Re: Push 3 scene follow action - not recording
If it's working with P3 as a controller, then it should work in P3S.
Since it doesn't seem to be the case then it's a bug and you should fill to Support
It reminds me some unexpected behavior I've seen with recording clips by launching scenes, but it's all blurry in my brain.

Re: Push 3 scene follow action - not recording
I did some quick tests in Live:
- if you set Scene1 to trigger Scene2 after xbars it will not trigger Scene2 unless Scene2 has at least 1 clip in any track
The follow action will just be "suspended" and Scene1 will just keeping on blinking like there's a follow action going on but it will stay on Scene1.
So you need to prepare an empty/dummy clip in one of the track you're not recording anything into.
- Scene1 will not stop recording at the specified time via follow action, if it has not any clip in any of the track.
To sum up, for this to work correctly you need to set a dummy track in your set, which will contain a dummy clip in every scene where you want to record too.
Just to be clear, I did those test in Live. Since it's already tricky I didn't even dare exporting to P3S to test.
I'm surprised since you said it worked in Live: did you remove clips before exporting to P3S?
