Electric MPE possibilities

Post by JamesRussller » Fri Oct 27, 2023 11:11 am

Electric (IMO one of the most underrated Live instruments) is apparently MPE compatiable.

It's not clear in what way - you can't pitch bend from one note to the next with Push 3, and there's no clear indication on what parts are actually MPE enabled or really any new options.

I'm hoping to be able to pitch bend each individual note - would certainly take the Old School Roads preset to the next level and make guitar style soloing more of a thing on it.

Any ideas?

Try clicking Global (to the right) and then rising Note PB from 0, to something like 2 maybe (Drift's Note PB default is 2).

MPE Note Pitch Bend range should generally be 48. Keep it at 48 unless you want microscopic pitch bends.

I don't think Electric is a true MPE synth. It just allows Note Pitch Bend. I can't see any way of assigning parameters to Slide or Pressure.
Computer: MBP M1Pro 32GB 1TB, MixPre 6 MKII
Hardware: Syntrx II, Matriarch, Hydrasynth, Minifreak, Nord Drum 2, Modular (mainly Make Noise)
Controllers: Push 3, Launchpad Mk3, Launch Control, Sensel Morph, PC4, Nanokontrol

Yeah I set it to 48.

You could assign parameters thru Expression Control, but no obvious MPE slide or pressure controls inside the synth.

Expression Control is still problematic, if you use a lot of instances of it.
