Hi guys, I have bought a new laptop (Acer Predator helios 300), this one was updated with Windows 11. Everything looked great. I use both Ableton Live and FL Studio, however, Ableton is my way to go DAW.
I was so happy because this new laptop is a monster, it has an amazing processor and the screen is 144hz, but there is a thing. For some reason, Ableton Live looks sluggish and laggy (Around 30fps) instead FL Studio that runs on the Nvidia card and has a really smooth framerate 144fps.
I managed to set the main graphic processor to the Nvidia card by changing the Graphics Card Performance Preferences in the graphic section on Windows 11. Once there you can select AbletonLive to be processed by the Nvidia card, however it seems it only uses the Nvidia when I use plugins like Fab Filter Pro Q3, they look smooth and great, but the overall Ableton interface runs very slow, like 30 fps or something.
Is this a natural behaviour on Ableton? Or does Ableton run on higher framerates?
PD: Both graphic drivers are up to date

Windows 11 is not yet officially supported so while it should work, there could be issues and if found (like now) best to report it thru, ideally with a video of the issue to their support department for a look.

Oh, I understand. Well, I think I found a fix. Now Ableton is launching in Nvidia card every time. This is what I did:jestermgee wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 9:48 pmhttps://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... -with-Live

I downloaded the Nvidia drivers from the Nvidia website instead of using Windows Update.
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/
When you go to the driver search, select "studio driver" instead of "game ready driver", I downloaded it and installed it. Now it always opens on the Nvidia Card, of course, I was making sure the Graphics Card Performance Preferences on Windows were still on the Nvidia card.
I also realized that if you untick HiDPI mode on Ableton's settings, the framerate increase by a lot although if you have a HiDPI screen, it will look blurry. (Another solution for this blurry side effect is going to windows 11 display settings again, set the Scale to 100% instead of 125% by default) this will make the screen looks tiny on Ableton Live, but you can then set a 125% zoom on Ableton Live Zoom to compensate.
Definitely, now it looks smoother, and sharp, however, when I load a heavy live set, the GUI looks sluggish again, this shouldn't be happening since the Nvidia RTX 3060 is very powerful. But I hope they fix this soon.

Re: Ableton Live 11 On Windows 11 low framerate
I face low fps even on the empty project both in FL and in Ableton, when the timeline runs for example, you can see how it twitches, even though the same time I can open Pro-Q3 EQ fullsecreen mode and it will show stable 60 fps. I am sure the problem is not with your videocards and settings. I have created a request for the tech support. They say they work on the problem.
