Help! troubleshoot Ableton not detecting ADAT audio signal.
Hello friends,
I'm reaching out in the hope that someone here can assist me with an issue I'm facing. I've already contacted Ableton Support but haven't received a response yet.
My setup includes a Fireface UCX2 audio interface connected to an Octamic Preamp 2. The Fireface has a built-in software mixer. I can see and hear the audio signal from the preamp via ADAT in the Fireface's mixer. However, the problem arises with Ableton. It seems unable to receive any signal from the preamp.
Ableton is only recognizing signals that are directly connected to the Fireface interface, specifically Inputs 1-6 (the Fireface's built-in inputs). However, Inputs 7 to 14, which come via ADAT from the Octamic Preamp to the Fireface, are not being detected by Ableton. Interestingly, they are detected by the RME TotalMix, the built-in software of the Fireface.
Thank you all for your support and any guidance you can provide.

Re: Help! troubleshoot Ableton not detecting ADAT audio signal.
Are all inputs (especially the ADAT inputs) of the Fireface UCX2 registered in the Ableton audio preferences (screenshot)?
Did you select the ASIO driver?

Thank you for the reply , yes they are selected, I have a new Mac , and the proper driver is selected also, also I have enabled the mic input from preferences

I have almost the same configuration, Mac, Fireface UC + Berhinger ADAT. To get it to work I need to enable Live to access the Microphone under OS-X security preferences and I need to go into Live's preferences and enable the inputs on the ADAT.
Hope this helps
Re: Help! troubleshoot Ableton not detecting ADAT audio signal.
Thank you I have already done that

I'm scratching my head. On the surface it seems you are doing everything right. My any chance are you using the Intro version? According to this it only will see 8 inputs.

I know

Re: Help! troubleshoot Ableton not detecting ADAT audio signal.
It sounds like you’ve already rebooted, but make sure that your ins and outs are enabled in Live’s audio settings then restart Live.
In my setup, I have an Octopre running in and out of a Push 3. I use an M2 MacBook Air running whatever the latest MacOS is. ADAT outputs 15/16 always run into reamp boxes and 9-14 are usually disabled; I enabled 9/10 with hopes of running a separate line out into an analog mixer.
I spent upwards of 45 minutes testing cables, trying to figure out why ADAT output 15/16 worked perfectly but 9-14 didn’t, and it turned out that Live wasn’t picking up ADAT channels that were enabled after the last restart. It sounds like the problem was similar to yours — software mixers saw everything that should have been going on, but no electricity was passing through the cables. Restarting Live did the trick.
Hopefully it’s an easy fix for you too!

Solved It, there was a weird configuration in the RME total mix, I just added all the possible inputs in Ableton, and restarted

Hey, I came here with the same problem - what was that weird configuration in TotalMix to get ADAT inputs signal in Ableton?
