Help Required!!!!!!!

Post by Chopper » Thu Oct 13, 2005 3:16 pm

Hi there I am new to Ableton, and have a real problem setting up my soundcard so that I can listen through my headphones to cue while sending to the master output at the same time.

I have a soundblaster audigy 2 platinum ex (with the breakout box). Has anyone else got this soundcard that can give me advice.

At the minute I have a 6.1 surround sound system plugged into the 3 outputs in the back of the soundcard. There is a headphone socket on the breakout box but this just plays the same thing as comes through the speakers. Its driving me nuts, I've tried different ASIO drivers, and tried enabling all the channels with Ableton, but I cant get an output except to channel 1 & 2. Is this card only capable of 2 channels? So would I have to unplug some speakers from the back and plug in my headphones?

Im a complete novice at this so any help would be appreciated greatly.

If you only can see two outs in Live, then you are screwed. But you should be able to get access to them all with eg ASIO4ALL. Don't forget to enable all outs in the preferences.

Then you need to plug your phones into one of the other outs, if the breakout box's headphone outs only repeats the main.

In all likelyhood your card only has two channels. You need four in order to cue into headphones.

You SHOULD get access to all your outs. I have worked with computer with a lowly Audigy 2 LS (I think it was).

All 8 outs (4 stereo pairs) was adressable from Live when using asio4all.

There is also the Kx drivers, specifically for soundblaster products:

Try them.

Download asio4all at www.asio4all.com
