Fix out of tune guitar in a live recording?

Hello,

Is there any way to fix the tuning in a band's live recording?

I have a live recording of a band, and one guitar in the band is out of tune only on specific notes.

You can use Tuner to help dial in cents on tracks, but this is just one recording, so there's lots of noise, drums, and other instruments all in one track.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Melodyne seems interesting, but it's also for tracks and is quite expensive.

AI stem splitting/editing software like RipX would help here. RipX also has built in DAW-like editing that would let you target and fix bad notes if you can get a clean guitar stem. Then, once fixed, save the stems back out from RipX as audio, pull into Ableton as separate tracks, then mix and master to taste.

However, RipX costs $99 or $199, depending on which version. An alternative might be to use a free stem separation tool, but you won’t be able to edit notes easily like RipX. You could pull the unfixed stems into Ableton, but finding and fixing individual bad notes as audio in Ableton itself is more time consuming and maybe not as good as the results you would get using RipX. RipX lets you visualize and edit audio as if it were MIDI.

After a couple of rips, I got the guitars isolated!

Now, I need to figure out the tuning part.

I'm experimenting with Auto-Tune and Detuning, and I have mixed results.

Not sure I fully understand the Auto-Tune plugins yet, but I'll keep messing with it.
